Marché Montessori School is a beautiful and inspiring place that offers countless opportunities for learning about of the world and the universe. Our carefully prepared environment meets all the developmental needs of children and is set to effectively support the independence of children practically, socially and academically. The classroom, kitchen and garden are all part of a prepared school environment, together with its surroundings, the local library, parks, municipal museums and other amenities that the children attend within their school program. We enable children to learn each at their own pace and according to their own capabilities. All of our teachers have a quality Montessori education and experience and are Grade 1. and 2. elementary school teachers. Their task is to give a presentation of the materials and explanation of the tasks, to tell stories, offer instruction and connect the child with the environment.
We will teach children everything they need, and on top of that, what else they themselves want. We teach them self-expression (music, language, art), the fundamental intellectual abilities (moral education, mathematics and language) and culture (history, science and technology). It is important for us that every child has the ability to pursue life-long learning, team-work with others, deal with information and is creative and flexible. We unite this with the requirements of the Czech education system and the experience of our team of teachers.
We want the children to have the intrinsic motivation to seek and want to know, rather than just memorize a lot of information they are unable to use. It is important for us that the child understands what they learn in a logical context and with practical usage and the child takes responsibility for their learning instead of learning just because someone will judge them from the outside. Our wish is that the new way of life is full of adventures, creativity and pleasure. Children are involved in setting the rules of behavior and work in the class.
The concept of education
Marché Montessori school educates its pupils using the Montessori pedagogical approach. We emphasize the development of independence, self-confidence and sense of responsibility for oneself, others and the environment. The Montessori Method facilitates the development of the child in the wholeness of her personality and supports creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to work with others on a common interest. For our students we have created an environment in which children can develop naturally and where they retain curiosity, creativity and joy of learning. We prefer relationships based on mutual respect, cooperation, thoughtfulness and tolerance. We do not endorse competition between children and comparison with one another.
The educational concept of our elementary school is based on the work of an Italian doctor, anthropologist and psychologist Maria Montessori (1870 to 1952). Given the proclaimed principles of the pedagogy that Maria Montessori gradually developed and upon which she based her work, her approach is classified among the child-centered educational concepts of the so called reform pedagogical movement. The Montessori method is an alternative education program with a strong didactic and methodological innovation within the learning process, with a strong emphasis on respecting the child’s personality and freedom of choice in a prepared environment of the classroom, school or family.
The expansion of language learning gives our students the opportunity to apply the acquired skills already from an early age and also in later study – further education in this country and in the more and more integrated world.
Our three basic methodological starting points, determining the basis from which we can derive the didactic principles of the Montessori teaching are: 1. knowledge of the inner human needs, 2. adjustment of the external environment – prepared environment that motivates learning and thus meets the developmental needs of the child and 3. respecting the freedom of choice of activities. Using the prepared environment the child is actively gaining experience, creates her own personality and develops cognitive structures. Interrelationship between adult and child is one of partnership and dialogue.
Schedule of the week:
The Marché Montessori school has 4 morning teaching blocks in which mathematics, Czech language, music, art and physical education are taught. Part of the program is the so called project day, during which children work on topics they find entertaining and interesting, and during which their knowledge deepens through work in a group and connections to real life. The main teacher is teaching in these days, the education is connected with projects and with teaching outside of the classroom on field trips. We have a regular supervision once a week. For now, we have one teaching block of English per week, interconnected with the curriculum and projects. Daily afternoon program from 2 p.m. to 4.:30 p.m. takes place in the presence of Czech and English-speaking teachers of the Primary class (3-6). Beginning with the school year 2016/2017 the environment will be Czech-English throughout the week.
CZECH LANGUAGE in our school is taught in that the children are in touch with it. Language is linked to what children are being taught. The emphasis is on expressing oneself and not only on drilling phrases. We show the children a way to know another language. Besides the Czech language, ENGLISH is a part of the community life since the first grade; we have at least 6 hours per week in addition to communication in English every afternoon. Even though in language teaching the first stage is mainly about hearing the foreign language and forming a positive attitude towards it, we find it important that the children experience the basics of communication in English and that they are not afraid to use it.
Part of the curriculum is to connect the learned facts with usage in real life. This way the children gain experience, learn to solve problems and work together. They learn to search for information, sort it, understand it and present it to others.

Objectives of the community
We realize the huge responsibility for the children, so that they develop into independent and functional beings. To arouse their desire to work, to wonder, to achieve their independence. Our goal is that the memories of the first years of school help children to form a positive relationship with school, that thay have good preconditions for further studies while achieving their personal best. We want to accompany children in their exploration of the world around them, in getting to know their own needs and the needs of others, in the development of the ability to cooperate in a group and the ability respect and hold on to their own uniqueness. We do not evaluate the errors that children make with marks, instead we help them to find the right solutions.
Collaboration with the family
Very important for us and for running the school is a close cooperation with parents and family.
This is necessary particularly in creating an adequate, individual approach to each child, in developing individual education and training plans, in identifying strategies and practices that will help the child to overcome difficulties and encourage her talent, to reach her individual maximum.
Interconnection between the Montessori education and the parenting approach within the family is a huge benefit for the kids. It is very motivating for the children when their parents are interested in school activities and participate in them. We inform parents about the course of each day and about the child’s work in a daily report, we meet each other at family days and meetings. To the parents of enrolled children we offer lectures twice a year on the topic of Montessori education, according to the child’s developmental stage and also the opportunity to attend courses organized by us at a discounted price. We organize evening individual and collective coffee meetings to share and discuss questions about the care and work with children at home. By developing communication and cooperation with parents we also want to achieve that the school will function as a community.
Parents are welcome by appointment according to their own timetable. We are interested in your opinions, ideas, wishes and criticism!
